First you have the diaphragm switch, the one that is most used often, however it also the one that will cost you the most.
As the water rises this switch will activate the pump, there is no float that may get stuck in this type of switch. That is a problem that is faced with the other types of switches you may be looking at.
Next you have a vertical action float, not much money will be put out to buy this. Most likely the best choice for many people. Far outweighing the tethered float, and costing less money than that choice of a diaphragm switch.
Finally the tethered float which you will see the most problems with. It does have that float that can get stuck and have your pump running when it doesn’t need too. But it will be the least expensive choice.
Depending on the money you have to pay for the switch and what one you like the best that will be the way to make your decision. Though the first is most used by professionals you may opt for the second choice.
Saving money but not giving up much as far as the benefits you’ll see from the diaphragm switch. But to go with the least expensive route you would be looking at the third switch as your main choice.
